its not all that great but you can make a wind chime
Wind chime.
The cans clank together.
Use string and tie them to a hanger.
The kids can decorate the cans however they want with glitter, paint, the works.
Well, you can make lots of things from the cans, but since its kids - and I’m assuming young kids - you wont want to do anything that involves cutting the cans open since that runs the serious risk of cuts from the thin metal edges.
There are some options available for whole, uncut cans. They can be flattened and painted into the face of an animal or person the hole ends up being the mouth for the person or animal they create. Craft paint, pompoms, glitter, yarn etc. is used to decorate the flattened can. If they are older kids, they can crush the cans in different ways and make more imaginative creatures.
A really pretty project is making the cans into luminarias - a sort of lantern for outdoors that holds a tea light. It can be made into a holiday theme too. The sides of the can are cut from top to bottom in strips and the can is partially collapsed, making a lantern. An adult will have to make the cuts once the child has drawn the pattern they want cut.
Also, heres a link for a huge list of projects using recycled common objects that you may not have thought of - popsicle sticks, pringles cans, tuna cans, soup cans, egg cartons, straws, bottle caps, beans, etc.
Here is a few different ones.
Instead of a tea candle Use the sticks that you break and they light up in the lantern.
Here is a few more crafts of recycled items you might have around.
Happy canning
