Take a piece of clear contact. Draw a picture on it using a black permanent marker. Invert and peel the backing off.

Take coloured pieces of paper and cut/tear them into the shapes you need to fill on your picture. The trick is to do it by eyesight - it's supposed to result in pieces that are the wrong size/shape. Place the pieces onto the contact. Use a large sheet of paper or card as a backing.

The result is a very abstract, po-mo, artsy picture.

a few come to mind:
make vegetable-people or animals (while teaching about healthy foods); choose a topic like (environment) & how the students can express this with fingerpainting; let them gather or bring items from home to make their own birds nest while educating them on various habitats of (birds).

you can make pinatas from flour water newspaper and a balloon and paint and get them to bring stuff to put in it and teach them about where they come from and a little Spanish stuff you know. you could also get them to create there own board game have the little kids get in a group with the big kids and have them show how to play it and it'll help them bond and learn to get along with each other.... small things like that are always fun for everyone.

Flipbooks are awesome and easy to make. Any kid who wouldn't love doing that as an after school project is a freedom hater and should be investigated by the CIA.
